The juicing market reached €110 million in 2018, representing 14% of orange juice purchases in stores, almost as much as fresh bottled juice (17% of the market). The largest market share continues to be juice cartons (69% of the market).

Catering


According to Gira Foodservice, the catering market reached €27.9 billion in 2017 (+2.9%) Wholesalers account for 60.3% of the market (+4.2%), Cash & Carry outlets account for 11.9% (=), logistics providers account for 5.5% (+4.1%), and other channels account for 22.3% (+0.6%).
IRI GIRA Foodservice’s biennial report confirms the recovery of the overall sector, which grew 3.2% in 2017 and has a turnover of €85 billion (€74 billion for catering and €11 billion for the Impulse segment, which includes bakeries, convenience stores, petrol stations, and street vendors). The symbolic threshold of 10 billion out-of-home meals was crossed for the first time. The French eat out 10 times a month on average, twice as much as in 2016. Fast food has the highest growth, especially the taco, bagel, and healthy food segments. Chain restaurants do better than independent ones.
Collective catering represents 3.7 billion meals a year in France. Central kitchens accounted for 600 million of these meals in 2018, which should rise to 650 million in 2020, according to Gira Foodservice

E-commerce


The Belgian e-commerce market reached 7 billion in 2018, a 20% increase over 2017. The number of online merchants also increased by 18% and now exceeds 24,000. The average online shopping cart passed €100 for the first time. This number increased 3.3% on average since 2017. The largest percentage increase is for “big” online stores, websites with transactions that are worth more than €10 million. Their number increased 32% in 2018, to 193.
The micro and small online stores, with transactions that are worth less than €1,000,000, increased 2,637 to 15,614. They represent 64% of online merchants in the Belgian landscape. Less than 4% of Belgian online merchants account for 88% of total turnover.
