- The Loi Alimentation will be discussed in the National Assembly starting on 22nd May.One of the provisions will have a direct impact on retail chains by targeting their promotional sales. It forbids discounts of over 34% for food products. That means the end of BOGO promotions, 70% Off discounts, and prices that are so ridiculously slashed that you wonder if the product was ever sold at its “original” price. Basically, there will no longer be massive promotions. All retailers will have to invent new ways to stand out from their competitors.
- On 27th May 2018, the National Assembly approved an amendment to progressively require restaurants to offer doggy bags to their customers, in the name of fighting against food waste.
